The last 15 days could possibly go down in Dan Shaw history as some of the best bike riding, food eating, and culture that I have experienced. I was overwhelmed at the graciousness and kindness that the Thai locals had for us as we biked through their streets and ate at their restaurants. Just 24 hours ago I was sitting on a beach in Krabi, Thailand sipping on Gin and Tonics looking at the sunset and thinking to myself, “Does this ever have to end?”.

While my job seems like a dream job on the surface, it is plagued with sacrifices that have to be made. But there are certain moments that anyone has with their job where they realize that they are doing something that they love and that it is worth the sacrifice that they have to make. My trip to Thailand once again opened my eyes to how lucky I am to be doing what I am doing and how hard this will have to be to sometime give much of it up.
So how did I choose Thailand as my next adventure? Every year Backroads has a staff event where leaders have the option of getting together and celebrating the successes of the year we just had. The last two years have have pulled together over 100 leaders each time for a 5 day biking adventure in some exotic land. This year the destination was Thailand and our trip took us from the starting point of Chaing Mai all the way up to Chaing Rai with over 200 miles of beautiful bike riding.
I could spend pages upon pages writing about my adventures of the trip, but to better understand the amazing time I had in Asia it would probably be better to see some photos wouldn’t it? Below are a few of my favorite shots, but as always you can take a look at all of the photos here.
