Well I knew the time would come. My little sister has finally met the right guy (Craig is awesome) and she’s getting married this fall. It’s a trip to see my sister with a ring on her finger! Last weekend we were in San Diego together and she had asked if I could shoot their engagement photos for them. I of course said a big YES.
We headed first to Balboa Park and then made our way to Cornado to shoot a few photos of the beautiful couple. Thanks guys for braving the big winds and countless poses I put you in! I can’t wait to celebrate in September.

And then I had to include this last shot of the group of us all hanging out in San Diego together. A first time, but hopefully not a last!

A little over a week ago Alicia and I submitted each a photo for a photo contest run by Cupcake Vineyards. The theme was plain and simple: Submit a photo showing how you “Live Deliciously”.
When we saw this contest we thought it was fate. But how do you show your love for such delicious wine? Cooking came to mind first. Ok, that’s a start. But we wanted to be more creative. One night, sitting at the dinner table and drinking some delicious Cupcake Chardonnay, we asked ourselves, “What is it to really Live Deliciously?” And then it hit us like a freight train. Jewelry!
After a quick trip to the crafts store and a bit of gluing we came up with our best way of describing “Live Deliciously”. Not only had we now enjoyed the wine to drink and also in our cooking, but now we are wearing it. Well, Alicia is wearing it.
But as with any contest you take more photos then you can submit. So the big question becomes which photo is worthy to send in?
Alicia ended up sending the one you can see by Voting Here.
And then I sent in the one you can view by Voting Here.
If you enjoy these shots and have a moment we’d love it if you voted for our images. All you have to do is click on the link above and “Like” them.
But we both wanted to showcase the “leftovers”. The ones that didn’t make the cut. Did we make the right choice? Only time will tell. But what I can say is, this is the best contest I have ever entered and I’m enjoying once heck of a ride.
Alicia had a hard time not choosing this shot for the contest,
but we liked the cork better in the other photo. Still one of my favorite ones.

We were both so torn on the necklace! We love it almost better
then the earring, but thought that the earring showcased the cork better.
These shots below encompass the idea that to “Live Deliciously” for us involves cooking.

This was one of my favorite shots in the series and thinking back
I would have liked to submit this one. But, I still like the one I submitted also.
I know I know, my blog has been a bit quiet lately. But there is good reason! I’ve been spending the last few weeks in Vietnam biking through rice paddies, eating crazy food, and spending the holidays leading adventure biking vacations. I’m about half way done before I head back to the rain and cold that Portland will offer.
I’ve been trying to capture as much as I can with my camera and after my first trip the photos below are some of my favorites. This area is so amazingly beautiful that it’s hard to capture what the eye can see. So hopefully you can get a good feel for what is out here.
Happy Holidays!

I can’t speak from experience, but I have been told before that once you have children that time seems to fly exponentially faster. I can’t imagine time flying faster then it is at this moment, but yesterday I visited my good friends Kelly, Alan, and their ever growing little boy Zach. It seems like yesterday that I photographed Kelly’s maternity session. And since then Zach has seen a lot of the camera. I came back a few weeks later and captured him at 2 weeks old. Then again a few months later when he hit 4 months. What can I say…he’s a natural!
So it was only fitting to come back a 4th time to document the young man as he was just about to turn the ripe old age of 12 months (That’s 1 year for you math challenged). A week from today Zach will have a big birthday bash and I hope to capture as much of the emotion as I can. Stay tuned for those photos next week.
Below are a few of my favorite photos from yesterday. The day was beautiful and I was super happy when Kelly wanted to have some photos taken outside amongst green grass and fall trees. Enjoy!
